The price includes:

• Supervised carp fishing

Campers are welcome to bring their own carp-fishing equipment, but this is not essential.

A full kit list will be sent before the camp.

Campers will normally need:

• Suitable outdoor clothing
• Warm layers for the evening and night
• Waterproof jacket and trousers
• Sensible footwear
• Sleeping bag
• Pillow
• Toiletries
• Sun protection
• Any personal medication
• A change of clothes
• A refillable drinks bottle

Fishing equipment, bivvies and bedchairs can be provided.

Please do not buy specialist equipment specifically for the event without speaking to us first.

Parent and Guardian Information
A parent or guardian must remain for the arrival briefing.

During this briefing, we will cover:

Parents and guardians will receive further joining instructions before the event.

Intermediate Carp Camp

The Intermediate level is suitable for young anglers who already have some fishing experience and can cast, use a reel and play fish with guidance.

The workshops will build confidence in the essential skills needed to fish safely and independently for carp.

Intermediate workshops may include:

• Setting up a carp-fishing swim
• Rods, reels, bite alarms and line control
• Safe casting
• Rig tying and hooklink materials
• PVA bags and sticks
• Preparing bait and hookbaits
• Using a bait boat and other baiting methods
• Playing and landing carp
• Safe unhooking and fish care
• Weighing and photographing a catch
• Understanding carp behaviour
• Planning a fishing session

 

Young anglers will be encouraged to begin making their own decisions while remaining fully supported by the coaching team.

 

Advanced Carp Camp

The Advanced level is for experienced young carp anglers who already understand the basic equipment, rigs and fish-care procedures.

This programme will focus more heavily on watercraft, accuracy, presentation and independent decision-making.

Advanced workshops may include:

• Reading the water and locating carp
• Swim selection and watercraft
• Feature finding
• Accurate casting and using line clips
• Understanding depth, weed, silt and firm areas
• Rig mechanics and hookbait presentation
• Bottom baits, wafters and pop-ups
• Baiting strategies for different situations
• Bite indication and line management
• Playing fish around weed and other obstacles
• Adapting a session when conditions change
• Recording catches and planning future sessions
• Responsible modern carp fishing

Advanced campers will be expected to manage more of their own fishing while still being closely supervised.

Entry Requirements

Junior Carp Camp is designed for young anglers aged 11–16 who already have some fishing experience.

Intermediate campers should be able to:

• Cast a carp rod with reasonable control
• Use a reel and bite alarm
• Play a fish with guidance
• Follow safety instructions around the water
• Handle fishing equipment responsibly
• Have previously caught a carp or another fish of around 5lb or more

Advanced campers should be able to:

• Cast safely and independently
• Set up and manage their own rods
• Tie at least one safe carp rig
• Play and land fish confidently
• Unhook and handle carp with limited support
• Understand basic rig, bait and swim choices
