Learn to Fish: Sea Fishing
Ready for the Ocean?
Course Description
This practical 4-hour course is designed for anglers who want to learn how to fish from the coast with confidence. It is ideal for beginners, freshwater anglers wanting to try sea fishing, or those with some experience who want to understand rigs, bait, casting, tides and fish care properly. During the session, you’ll learn how to set up and use sea fishing tackle, choose suitable rigs and baits, and understand how conditions such as tide, weather and water movement affect your chances of catching. We’ll help you improve your casting technique so you can fish safely, accurately and with more confidence from the shore. You’ll also learn how to target common sea species, how to read a mark, and how to adapt your approach depending on conditions. The course includes hands-on rig work, including making sea traces that you can take home and use on future trips. Fish care is also an important part of the session. We’ll show you how to handle fish safely, return fish correctly where appropriate, and, where fish are taken for the table, how to dispatch them humanely and responsibly. All tackle, bait and equipment are provided, so you do not need your own sea fishing gear. Our instructors will guide you step by step, explaining not just what to do, but why it works. During the session, you’ll learn how to set up and use carp fishing tackle safely and effectively, including bolt rigs, strong mainline, suitable hooks and safe lead systems. We’ll explain how these rigs work, why they are used, and how to fish them responsibly. You’ll also learn how to use proven carp baits such as pellets and boilies, how to introduce bait accurately, and how to choose the right approach for the conditions. The lesson also covers electronic bite alarms, landing larger fish safely, using an unhooking mat, weighing your catch correctly, and taking a quick photo before returning the fish carefully. Carp fishing is exciting, but fish care is especially important when targeting bigger fish. We’ll show you how to handle carp confidently, safely and respectfully. All rods, rigs, bait, bite alarms and fish care equipment are provided. You do not need your own tackle. This course is ideal for anglers who have completed Learn to Fish: Rods & Reels and Learn to Fish: Feeder Fishing, or for beginners with some experience who want to start carp fishing properly. Just dress for the weather, bring a drink, and we’ll take care of the rest.
